Moving Into
Hub Students Dundee

Moving into student accommodation is one of the biggest parts of starting university life. Whether you’re moving to Dundee for the first time or returning for another year, we want to make your move in experience as smooth and stress free as possible.
This guide covers everything you need to know before arriving at Hub Students Dundee, including what to bring, arrival times, parking and collecting your keys.

Before You Arrive

Before moving into your accommodation, there are a few important things you must complete.

Before Move In Students Must

  • Complete their tenancy agreement
  • Pay the first rent instalment
  • Check move in emails carefully
  • Bring valid identification
  • Arrange their move in slot

Unfortunately, students cannot move in until the required first instalment has been paid. If you are experiencing difficulties, please contact the accommodation team as early as possible to discuss available options.

Booking Your Move In Slot

To help arrivals run smoothly, students will be contacted by email before their tenancy start date with instructions on how to book a move in slot.

Move in appointments help reduce queues and ensure students can check into accommodation quickly and comfortably.

Make sure you regularly check your emails before arrival so you don’t miss any important information.

What Time Can I Arrive?

Your allocated move in slot will confirm when you should arrive at the accommodation.

Our accommodation team and volunteers will be on site throughout the main arrival period to help students settle in and answer any questions during check in.

What Should I Bring?

Students should remember to bring:

Essential Items

  • Passport, driving licence or photo student ID
  • Bedding and towels
  • Clothes and toiletries
  • Laptop and chargers
  • Kitchen essentials
  • Study equipment
  • Important documents

If you’re unsure what to pack, take a look at our full university packing checklist for more guidance.

Arriving at the Accommodation

When you arrive at Hub Students Dundee, the accommodation team will guide you through the check in process.

On Arrival You Will

  • Check in with the accommodation team
  • Show your identification
  • Collect your room keys
  • Receive a short induction
  • Be shown important accommodation information

Our maintenance team will also be nearby in case any minor room issues need attention during move in.

Parking and Unloading

Students and families can temporarily use the small car park accessed via Blinshall Street for unloading belongings.

Important Parking Information

  • We recommend a 15 to 20 minute unloading period
  • Students should collect keys before unloading
  • Vehicles should then be moved to the nearby council car park approximately 100 yards away

We do not recommend unloading from the council car park due to the busy road nearby.

Arriving Outside Office Hours

If you expect to arrive outside normal office hours, please contact the accommodation team before arrival.

Out of Hours Arrivals

For the first two weeks of arrivals, on site security staff will be available to help issue keys outside office hours.
Students arriving late must:

  • Contact the accommodation team beforehand
  • Bring valid identification
  • Return the following day to meet the accommodation team fully

After the initial move in period, students arriving outside office hours may need to arrange overnight accommodation until the office reopens.

Checking Your Room

After moving in, students should take time to inspect their room and shared areas carefully.

If you notice any maintenance issues, damage or missing items, please report them as soon as possible so the accommodation team can help resolve them quickly.

The first few days at university are all about getting settled, meeting flatmates, exploring Dundee and preparing for classes.
